From Reno (approx 40 miles; 1 hour)
- Take State Hwy 395/I-580 South, towards Carson City
- Drive south to the Mt. Rose Hwy, NV 431, exit #56, signed Lake Tahoe North Shore
- Travel over Mt. Rose Hwy (NV 431) approx. 24 miles to the end of this road when it meets Hwy 28
- Turn east (left) onto Hwy 28, through the roundabout.
- Travel through Incline Village to Sand Harbor State Park, approx. 6 miles.
- Sand Harbor is located on the right hand side of Hwy 28. Use the second entrance to Sand Harbor, not the boat entrance.
From Sacramento (approx 125 miles; 2 hours, 15 minutes)
- Take I-80 east toward Reno
- Take the Truckee Exit #188B toward North Lake Tahoe/Kings Beach, Hwy 267 S
- Travel over Hwy 267 12 miles to the stop sign
- Turn east (left) onto Hwy 28
- Go through Kings Beach, Crystal Bay and Incline Village toward Sand Harbor, approx. 11 miles
- Sand Harbor is located on the right hand side of Hwy 28 (use the second entrance to Sand Harbor, not the boat entrance).
From South Lake Tahoe (approx 25 miles; 35 minutes)
- Travel east on Lake Tahoe Blvd (US 50) toward Carson City, approx. 12 miles
- Turn west (left) onto Hwy 28 towards Incline Village (do not continue towards Carson City)
- Travel approx. 10 miles
- Sand Harbor is located on the left hand side of Hwy 28 (use the first entrance to Sand Harbor).
From Carson City (approx 25 miles; 30 minues)
- From Carson St. (Hwy 395 South), take Hwy 50 over Spooner Summit toward Lake Tahoe
- At the summit, go west (right) onto Hwy 28 toward Incline Village/Sand Harbor (do not continue towards South Lake Tahoe)
- Travel approx 10 miles
- Sand Harbor is located on the left hand side of Hwy 28 (use the first entrance to Sand Harbor).
Parking
A Nevada State Parks Entrance Pass is required to gain access to and park at the venue that Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival (LTSF) calls home for all events. The $10/per vehicle/per day fee (applies to ALL vehicles, in-state AND out-of state, when purchased in advance) is required by Nevada law and may be used to access Sand Harbor, Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park after 5:00 p.m. on the date listed on the Pass only. For Entrance Passes purchased on-site on the day of a scheduled event, the following fee structure applies: $10/per vehicle/per day, in-state license plate; $15/per vehicle/per day, out-of-state license plate. As this is an Entrance Pass as opposed to a Parking Pass, please note that the fee applies to ridesharing services (Uber, Lyft, etc.) and drop-offs within the park. Please note that the park closes at 8:00 p.m. Patrons may not be able to access the park after that time. Please plan travel accordingly.
While LTSF does not benefit directly from Nevada State Parks Entrance Pass fees, we are pleased to afford our patrons the convenience of purchasing Nevada State Parks Entrance Passes in advance of their visits as part of our ticket purchasing processes. Pre-paid Entrance Passes are offered as a convenience. Entry to Sand Harbor’s parking lot is “first come, first served” and may be delayed as spaces become available pre-show. If you’ve already purchased your performance tickets, you can still purchase your Nevada State Parks Entrance Pass in advance. Simply visit the calendar page of our website. Then click on your ticketed performance. In the upper left corner of the resultant performance pop-up window, click the “Pre-Pay your Sand Harbor, NV State Parks Entrance Pass” link. (Entrance fees are non-refundable and non-exchangeable on or after the performance date indicated on the Pass.)

- Pre-Paid Entrance Passes are not available for Young Shakespeare performances.
- Bus parking must be arranged with Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park. Please call 775-831-0494.
- Please do not park in the designated Group Area, as this area is closed and locked each night prior to the conclusion of the Festival. This area is accessible by permit only.
- Do not leave pets or food in vehicles.
- Bring a flashlight for the parking lot at the conclusion of the performance.
Nevada State Parks Rideshare Policies for Festival Patrons (Uber, Lyft, etc.):
- Pre-Performance Arrivals: Park Entrance Pass fee structures apply and are the responsibility of Festival guests ($10/per vehicle for in-state license plate; $15/per vehicle for out-of-state license plate). Rideshare patrons should identify that they are attending a Festival performance upon arrival.
- Post-Performance Departures: It is the policy of Nevada State Parks to close the entry gate to Sand Harbor (our venue) before the end of Festival performances. Guests who plan to utilize a rideshare service to depart our venue following a performance should arrange to meet their rideshare drivers outside the park gates – which are approximately a 5-minute walk from our venue’s entrance. Rideshare drivers cannot gain access to our parking lot and venue following performances. Scheduling your pickup in advance is essential to avoid late night challenges.
Public Transportation Note
The East Shore Express from Incline Village, NV and RTC Shuttle from Reno, NV provide DAYTIME ONLY service to Sand Harbor State Park for beachgoers. The final return shuttle departs Sand Harbor at 7:40 p.m. This public transportation service will NOT serve Festival patrons.
