(INCLINE VILLAGE, NV) Continuing its commitment to providing high-quality arts and entertainment programming for the cultural benefit of residents and visitors to the Lake Tahoe and Reno region, the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival announced its 2012 Monday Night Showcase lineup to round out the company's 40th anniversary season.

The six-event performance series, which commences Monday, July 16 and continues each subsequent Monday through August 20, will take place on the Warren Edward Trepp Stage at scenic Sand Harbor State Park. Monday, July 16 @ 7:30 p.m.

The Reno Philharmonic Orchestra

Broadway on the Beach!

Tickets: $30 - $85

With Lake Tahoe as the backdrop, The Reno Philharmonic Orchestra comes to life as conductor Laura Jackson and Broadway stars Rob Evan and Lakisha Jones take audiences on a musical tour of the Best of Broadway.  Rob Evan starred in the original Broadway cast of Jekyll & Hyde and played in over 1,000 other performances worldwide. His other credits include Les Miserables, Little Shop of Horrors and Disney's Tarzan. And, best known to millions of TV viewers as a top-four finalist during the 2007 season of American Idol, Lakisha Jones' last album, So Glad I'm Me featured the same expressive, full-bodied and arresting vocals that electrified American Idol viewers and later the Broadway stage in the Tony Award-winning musical, The Color Purple.

The Reno Philharmonic Orchestra

Under the Western Sky

One of the west's finest orchestras in the nation welcomes two of the finest western entertainers to join them this summer in a special presentation of Under the Western Sky. Conductor Laura Jackson and The Reno Philharmonic Orchestra will perform western favorites alongside Grammy-nominated, Western Balladeer, Don Edwards, and Nevada Entertainer of the Millennium, Waddie Mitchell, Cowboy Poet.

Marie Curie & Mother Jones

Patrons will meet scientist Madame Curie, discoverer of radioactivity, in a riveting performance by Storysmith, Susan Marie Frontczak, that explores the tenacity of the human spirit. In addition, audiences will get acquainted with a passionate union activist, known affectionately as "Mother Jones" through a vivid portrayal by Dianne Moran.

A Continuing Requiem for John Lennon

Tickets: $25- $80

Audiences are invited to break out their beads and bellbottoms, and head to Sand Harbor to enjoy the 32nd anniversary of the Requiem for John Lennon. Under the joyful guidance of maestro James Rawie and friends, a soft rock band, and the singers of Tocatta, patrons will enjoy a walk down memory lane as they relive John Lennon's music in a "Classical Requiem" format.

About the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival

The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established for the cultural benefit and enjoyment of all residents and visitors to Lake Tahoe and Reno. Annually drawing more than 30,000 attendees from across the country to the specially built Warren Edward Trepp Stage along the north shore of Lake Tahoe, the Festival is an advocate for producing the finest cultural events in the region. The Festival's community outreach includes an annual educational program, InterACT, designed to educate future generations about the importance of the arts, theater and music and the D.G. Menchetti Young Shakespeare Program, a free series of performances produced specifically for younger audiences presented free of charge during the summer throughout Lake Tahoe and Northern Nevada.
