INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. (Aug. 6, 2007) - The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, one of the region's longest-running cultural events with 35 years under its belt, is reaching out to victims of the Angora Fire by hosting a benefit concert Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at its lakeside home, Sand Harbor State Park. Located just outside of Incline Village on Tahoe's north shore, the custom built Warren Edward Trepp stage will be filled with performers including the Reno Jazz Orchestra featuring Cammie Thompson, Luke Stevenson, Darin Talbot, Shameus and Tim Callicrate with Shelia Leijon. Tickets for The Angora Fire Benefit Concert are on sale now at http://www.laketahoeshakespeare.com/ with all proceeds benefiting victims of one of the lake's most devastating fires that destroyed more than 240 homes during its eight-day burn. "The affects of the Angora Fire were felt by everyone here at Lake Tahoe and throughout our region and we want to do our part to help the victims of this horrific and devastating disaster," said Catherine Atack, executive director of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival. "As a leading arts organization, we have the ability to host entertainers and put on an event that gives back to the community that has shown us such wonderful support for so long. Our hearts go out to the victims of the Angora Fire and we truly hope that we're able to help those who lost their homes and businesses in late June." The benefit concert was initiated by Lake Tahoe-based pianist and musician Tim Callicrate, who along with many of the area's leading musicians, will present an evening of entertainment including a variety of different musical genres, a silent auction, food and wine service from Shakespeare's Kitchen and merchandise sales. The Angora Fire Benefit Concert also includes a community sing-along of "Moon River" and updates on monies raised. "We're so pleased that the Shakespeare Festival has partnered with us to benefit such a great cause," said Tim Callicrate, event producer and a performer at The Angora Benefit Concert. "As soon as the fire started we knew that something had to be done to help the victims and to say thanks to the more than 2,000 firefighters who worked around the clock to protect our beautiful area. We look forward to sharing our gratitude and to donating the money raised to displaced Tahoe residents to provide additional assistance as they rebuild their lives." The Angora Fire Benefit Concert takes place at Sand Harbor State Park on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 7:30 pm.
