CONTACT: Catherine Atack, LTSF 775-832-1616 Betsy McDonald, RKPR Inc. 775-378-0033 INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. (March 23, 2007) -The 2007 Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival is breaking from tradition by offering its audience far more than just a new lineup of plays and venue enhancements. The 35th annual Festival is rolling out its first-ever non-Shakespeare, contemporary play and a completely new food and beverage experience; all while continuing with the success formula initiated in 2006 of offering 39 consecutive nights of performances seven nights a week, July 12 to August 19. Romeo & Juliet and The Taming of the Shrew headline the playbill rotating Tuesday through Sunday throughout the Festival. These two Bard favorites are complemented by the off-the-wall original production of Greater Tuna, the first modern day, non-Shakespeare work to be presented during the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival. Greater Tuna is a hysterical, fast paced and wacky comedy set in the small Texas town of Tuna and takes to the stage each Monday night. In the play, the two male actors play all of the many characters involved including male and female roles, even that of their pets, and everything else in between. "Greater Tuna is a step away from our traditional lineup, with the intent to provide more entertainment choices to residents and visitors in our region. This crazy and quick witted comedy is the perfect choice to woo those people who simply are not interested in the Bard's work while, at the same time, complementing our more typical summer offerings," says Catherine Atack, executive director for the Festival. "Our diverse playbill matched with our one-of-a-kind venue and scenic lake views truly sets us apart from the regular theatre experience and makes the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival this summer's must-attend event." Shakespeare's Kitchen, the Festival's newly updated and expanded food and beverage area, offers a completely different experience than previous years, with an enhanced assortment of fare at every price level. Shakespeare's Kitchen is located inside the theatre gates and operated by Brimm's - A Catering Company from Incline Village. With over 55 years of food and beverage experience and a 10 year history serving guests at the Festival, Brimms is the perfect choice for this exciting new endeavor. The extensive menu includes complete dinners with natural free-range selections and vegetarian options, children's portions and tantalizing desserts plus a wide selection of fine wines, ales, lagers, select liqueurs and spirits, specialty coffee drinks and other hot beverages. Shakespeare's Kitchen also introduces a more streamlined ordering and payment process in addition to expanded seating and socializing areas for patrons. "We anticipate the new menu to be a big hit this season, one that adds that special "extra" something to the experience that patrons walk away with," notes Doug Brimm, owner of Brimm's - A Catering Company, and family owner of the Austins Reno and Incline Village restaurant chain. "We have tasty new offerings for every budget that theatre goers can enjoy prior to and during the show. You will even be able to orderahead of time on the Festival's web site, so you can simply pick-up your meal and enjoy the scenery. It is convenient, affordable and delicious!" The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival opens at 5:30 p.m. for all seating sections with a nightly curtain call at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $22 for open seating tiers and range in options up to the premier Reserved Seating section from $67.
