WHAT:
The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, in partnership with the Nevada Shakespeare Company, present InterACT, a free interactive, humanities-based workshop series designed to support the Nevada State Learning Standards and serve to enrich the established curriculum in Nevada's public schools. Through the workshops, students develop critical and creative thinking skills as they bring Shakespeare's written word to life culminating in a live performance of selected scenes from the Bard's classic work, A Midsummer Night's Dream. The students taking part in the workshops will continue with their rehearsals after the workshop series ends for a presentation at the Tune In To Kids Fair scheduled for April 12, 2008.
WHEN:
Monday, March 31 through Friday, April 4
12:45 - 3 p.m. each day
WHERE:
Jessie Beck Elementary School, Mrs. Hoffman's 3rd Grade Class
1900 Sharon Way, Reno
WHY:
Educating youth on the importance of the arts is a primary mission of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival. By expanding its established D.G. Menchetti Young Shakespeare Program to include the InterACT workshops, the Festival provides students and opportunity to experience the world of theatre first-hand in a fun, comfortable environment, engaging them in acting games, discussions and interpretation of the presented works in their own words.
MEDIA: To schedule an interview or taping, contact RKPR at 775-323-6333 or media@rkpr.com
