InterACT Youth Theatre Workshops

Working together with The Nevada Shakespeare Company, the InterACT workshop series continues to be a part of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival's school/group based Educational Outreach Program. This series is a combination of theatre and acting workshops offered to schools, community groups and youth clubs in North and South Tahoe, Truckee, Reno, Carson and surrounding Nevada communities. 

InterACT is a humanities-based workshop series or theatre "intensives" designed torun from one day to one week, depending upon the school's or group's needs and scheduling availability.  These workshops are highly interactive and feature activities to help students understand the many timeless themes of Shakespeare'sworks, as well as the world of theatre as a whole.  Our InterACT instructors are both seasoned theatre professionals and experienced teachers who carefully craft each workshop to meet the specific needs of the students they are serving.  Students engage in acting games and discussions and work towards the culminating performance of a selection of scenes.

These workshops are designed to align specifically with the Nevada State Learning Standards for Theatre and English Language Arts.  Therefore, the workshops can supplement standard classroom learning and help fill the void of arts education that hasdeveloped in most schools due to lack of support, funding, and skilled artistic practitioners.

It is our hope that the InterACT workshops will make learning fun and accessible and serve to not only enrich each student's life, but to also create the next generation of theater-goers.
