Educational Outreach

The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival is dedicated to educating future generations about the importance of including theatre, music and art in their everyday lives.

The D.G. Menchetti Young Shakespeare Program

Young Shakespeare Logo (Transparent BG)This year marks the 9th season of this program and the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival is proud to offer fifteen FREE matinee performances throughout the Reno-Tahoe-Truckee region. Produced in collaboration with The Nevada Shakespeare Company, these fun and interactive plays offer a great introduction for children to the mastery of William Shakespeare and the wonders of outdoor theatre.

InterACT Workshops

InterACT Logo (Transparent BG)Working together with The Nevada Shakespeare Company, we continue our school-based Educational Outreach Program with our InterACT workshop series. These are offered to schools and community groups in Nevada and California from February to May. These workshops are highly interactive and feature activities to help students understand the many timeless themes of Shakespeare's works, as well as the world of theatre as a whole.

Midsummer's Camp

A Midsummer's Camp offers campers the chance to explore the history and language of Shakespeare, building character, voice and acting techniques through work with scenes from Shakespeare plays. Camp instructors are both seasoned theatre professionals and experienced arts educators, trained to enrich your child's summer experience. Curriculum will focus on a representative variety of Shakespeare scenes, which will complement the Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) on stage. Selections from Macbeth, Richard III, Midsummer, the Tempest and Much Ado About Nothing, including stage combat choreography will be performed and taught to the students.

Enrollment fee includes a camp T-shirt and one complementary general admission ticket to an evening performance of Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged).
