Lake Tahoe's Premier Summer Event
And you thought the views of the lake were dramatic...
Introducing the 2008 Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival summer season - a year that aims to be the most exciting, diverse and engaging in the event's 36 year history.
Offering a varied program this summer featuring Shakespearean classics and a brand new contemporary musical. We are delighted to announce our plays this season that feature the gleefully wicked Richard III, never before seen at Sand Harbor, paired nicely with the charming and beautiful Bard favorite, A Midsummer Night's Dream. Our Monday night production is the brand new musical CAMBIO based on the Victor Hugo novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

The concept for A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM is inspired by our gorgeous setting on the shore of the lake. The fairies will be powerful spirits of the earth, air, and water, who create a magical world where the young lovers leave their everyday lives behind and rediscover themselves and each other. →

CAMBIO is an original musical that we are creating here at the Lake Tahoe Shakspeare Festival. It’s a re-telling of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, set in modern day Havana, Cuba. In our show, the Hunchback’s timeless story of a young man who people reject as a monster, and his love for a beautiful, rebellious young woman, will take place in contemporary Havana, a city of simmering tensions, on the brink of tremendous change. →
