We are delighted to present this year’s Showcase Series performances. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, March 20, 2018 @ 10:00 am (PST).  Due to the enormous popularity of some of our Showcase Series events, we strongly recommend that you prepare in advance for the purchasing process. Reserved seating tickets for some events will sell out within minutes, so please consider general admission seating when purchasing tickets. There are no bad seats in the house. And remember, we have a variety of wonderful performances this season; so if your first choice is not available, please consider exploring something new. We have something for everyone!

Vocalist Craig Meyer joins the Reno Phil Orchestra under the direction of Laura Jackson for an evening celebrating Sir Elton John’s legacy of chart-topping songs. You’ll be captivated by Mr. Meyer’s resemblance and ability to impersonate Sir Elton John. On the eve of a musical legend’s final tour, we invite you to spend an evening with Craig Meyers under the stars at Lake Tahoe, celebrating the songs that shaped our history and remembering a time when rock was young.

Sierra Nevada Ballet presents a new, modern and edgy ballet version of Shakespeare’s classic, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, with a cast of 30 dancers. New York director/interdisciplinary artist, Ananda Bena-Weber, has reimagined this traditional tale for a contemporary audience – creating a steam punk fantasy that infuses subtle insights into the many permutations of the love relationship. Artistic Director/choreographer, Rosine Bena, collaborates with Ananda to create a world of cloying embraces, thrashing resistance and power struggles that are played out in the fairy tale realm – where ideal partnership relationships become distorted for a time.

Expect brass bands, big bands and bold-rooted blues improvised with a healthy dose of funk to highlight the quintessential heart and soul of New Orleans. From the classic Dixieland of Louis Armstrong to the “Second Line” to the Big Easy’s number one son, Doctor John the Night Tripper, it’s a night of swaggering songs with the RJO that you won’t soon forget.

Vocalist Alli Mauzey has appeared on Broadway as Glinda in Wicked, Brenda in Hairspray and Lenora in the musical Cry-Baby. Returning favorite, Hugh Panaro has made his mark as both the title character and his rival Raoul in Broadway’s The Phantom of the Opera. Panaro also played the roles of Marius and Jean Valjean in Les Misérables in Philadelphia.

Renowned as a “serious jazz artist who takes music to another level,” Sutton’s acclaimed and award-winning style will complement the veteran talents of the Reno Jazz Orchestra whose members have traveled the world with legendary performers.

The World Concert: A Peace Project of Truckee Tahoe

Celebrate music and dance with performers from around the world. This year’s event features the Latin seven-piece band Boca Mundial starring Grammy-winning vocalist Alexa Morales, known for her mix of jazzy sweetness and Latin brightness. InnerRhythms Dance Theatre kicks off the concert, followed by violinist Scarlet Rivera, the Latin duo of Lucas Arizu and Darcy Kathleen, aerial dance with Tahoe Flow Arts, Neo Folk World Music with HuDost and much more. We proudly welcome Jessica Fichot and her intoxicating multilingual fusion of French chanson, 1940s Shanghai jazz, gypsy swing and folk. The World Concert is produced by Trails and Vistas, building community through celebration of the arts and nature since 2004.
